CHIPINGE – Youthful coach Takura Shariwa has joined Masvingo based Eastern Region Division One new boys FC Wangu Mazodze as the Club aims at remaining in the league.
Mazodze is currently at number 11 in the 16-team league and Shariwa’s aim is that the team must finish among the top eight.
Fondly known as The Chosen One, Shariwa replaces Ezekiel Mutoda who was at the helm of the technical department until last week’s 4-1 defeat to Lloyd Mutasa’s Greenfuel FC.
The club’s chairman Kudakwashe Kaviya confirmed the latest developments to Chipinge Times.
“We had a good start to the season.
“However, things did not go according to our plans and we decided to remove the whole technical department. Mutoda had done a great job but we needed change. Shariwa’s CV, his abilities and achievements tells us that he knows football very well and he is young and energetic.
“We agreed to take him and we welcome him. We are confident that he will add value to the team and we will show him love and support. Our journey with him will be beautiful,” said Kaviya.
Shariwa who is a holder of a CAF B coaching license is not a stranger to Eastern Region football as he has coached Marondera based Hartley Academy, Hippo Valley, Greenfuel and Mutare City Rovers.
He also coached Monomutapa, Shabanie Mine and was one of Caps United assistants to Darlington Dodo last year before the return of Lloyd Chitembwe.
” My target is to finish in top eight. I want to build a strong team that will compete at any level. I want to go all the way and gain promotion. The only challenge that I have noted is that the team is still new from Division Two and also the quality of players matters most but I will motivate the players,” he said.
Masvingo-based flamboyant Club is currently on 11th position after a round of 9 games. The team has amassed 8 points from 2 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.
This weekend, FC Wangu Mazodze will be hosted in Ruwa by Grayham in the week 10 fixture.https://masvingomirror.com
