SEKE — Mashonaland East Local Government Services Director, Maxwell Mabhuro has urged all stakeholders to take the master plan processes seriously as they a bearing on their children’s future.
He told a two-day Manyame Rural District Council (RDC) Master plan validation meeting held at Stephen Margolis Resort last week that the final outcome particularly in the social and economic spheres will affect the next generation.
The meeting was attended by Manyame RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Farirai Guta, members of the farming community, business community members, traditional leaders and Manyame RDC lead planner Sheila Mundondo among others.
Mabhuro said it is sickening that most stakeholders do not attend such important meetings and instead enjoy attending donor funded meetings where they are given snacks and T-shirts.
“I urge everyone gathered here today to take the collective commitment master plan planning meeting seriously as this will help the future generations which are your kids. Everyone must co-operate since all the issues that are discussed at master plan meetings affect everyone in the community.
“I get surprised by most people in Zimbabwe as they are comfortable with being poor to an extent that they do not give value to meetings that will be meant for development but give priority to meetings with donors where they will be singing songs glorifying the donor for giving them food or something else. Therefore this clearly shows that we now have people who are proud of being poor and not concerned about the future generations,” said Mabhuro.
