MASVINGO – Police officers and suspects numbering up to seven were on Friday afternoon struck and severely injured by lightning while inside the Charge Office at Ngundu Police Station.

A mushika-shika driver who was arrested and was in the Charge office is the most seriously injured and could not speak after the incident. The Mirror is reliably informed that he was transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital.

Two Police officers suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local clinic.

Masvingo Police Spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident.

“Seven people were struck by lightning at Ngundu and one is seriously injured and the other six are in stable condition. They were taken to Ngundu clinic for medical examination,” said Dhewa.
