The Marondera-based outfit Surrey FC is still in the title race with four games in hand.  The team has so far played seven games amassing 10 points and currently sits on position 12 on the log of the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League with three wins, one draw and three losses.

Greenfield FC which is the current log leaders with 28 points has played twelve games so far. If Surrey FC wins all its outstanding fixtures it will be on tie with third placed Ruwa Progroup FC with 22 points. The position will be determined by goal difference.

In an interview with The Mirror Zimbabwe Football Association ZIFA sports administrator Wisdom Simba, said all the games are going to be played earlier so that the team can catch up with other teams. He went on to say in December last year when the league started Surrey FC requested to join the other teams at a later stage as they were still sorting out their financial issues.

Surrey FC went to miss its first game against Lowveld FC that was slated for January 28, 2022 after the game was cancelled because some of its players were not vaccinated against COVID-19. The team also failed to fulfil another fixture against Zaka Academy FC at the end of February this year after the later had a breakdown on its way to Marondera.

“Surrey FC could not start the league with other teams because its budget was not approved by its management. We are however, going to arrange for the team to play all its remaining games. As ZIFA we are going to use Easter holidays as a chance for the teams to play their outstanding games. Other games will be slated midweek,” said Simba. https://masvingomirror.com/
