State drops charge against Kurauone

MASVINGO – The State has dropped a charge of criminal nuisance against Masvingo Ward 4 councilor and MDC youth leader Godfrey Kurauone.

The charge was withdrawn today by the State led by Innocent Mbambo before Masvingo magistrate, Patience Madondo.

This is one of the three charges that Kurauone is facing and this means he has two more cases to go before he wins his freedom.

The State withdrew the charge citing difficulties faced by Police in dealing with the matter.

Kurauone was charged with criminal nuisance for allegedly circulating a video on WhatsApp urging people to take part in the July 31, 2020 demonstrations.

Kurauone was facing two charges of criminal nuisance and blocking 500m of road in Mashava on July 31, 2020. The other charge is undermining President Mnangagwa.

He is appearing in court tomorrow for the charge of blocking traffic.

The State has dropped the charge on the same day that the July 31 demonstration leaders, Jacob Ngarivhume and Hopewell Chin’ono have been granted bail.
