Skyview Hotel manager is Businesswoman of the Year

MUTARE – Manica Skyview Hotel finance director, Rachel Mugwagwa is the Megafest Eastern Region Businesswoman of the Year after being crowned at a function held in Mutare on Friday night
Winning the top prize means that she has qualified for the national competitions that will be held at a date and place to be announced.
Skyview is one of the best hotels in Mutare and it is located within the CBD. The three-star hotel was formally known as the Mount View Hotel.
Mugwagwa was proud of the award and said this shows that her work is being recognized and urged women to work hard and to also empower others.
She also added that “I believe that once women have been economically empowered, they should remember to pass knowledge on to the next generation and also diversify their business. I have empowered other women who have become entrepreneurs and managed to work and train my children, including in various business ventures. Today they operate their own Travel and tourism company currently promoting domestic tourism in Manicaland namely “Zimbabwe Global Travel and Tours” and an “Engineering and Construction” company in Manicaland as well”.

The judges’ citation said the hotel was recognized for the recent massive renovations that were undertaken that took it to world standards.
They also took note of the high-speed internet services, appropriate meeting rooms and conference facilities. The hotel provides for an all-round environment with children’s playground, outdoor furniture, swimming pool and a state-of-the-art bar which is well-maintained.

The hotel rooms offer unique view of the city and the mountains that enclose it. Guests have a choice on whether to go for rooms that offer the city or the mountain views.
There is also a choice on smoking and non-smoking rooms.
The awards were held at Golden Peacock Hotel.
The awards were held under the theme, ‘Rethink, Refocus, Reposition’ which resonates with the current situation where business is operating under the new normal due to the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
The awards ceremony was also graced by Mutare City Mayor, Blessing Tandi, Megafest chief executive officer, Dr Tafadzwa Matsika and several company executives.
