MASVINGO – The Survey Institute of Zimbabwe (SIZ) held a two day conference at a local Masvingo hotel last week to equip surveyors with information on the use of new technologies and resource usage.
The conference ran under the theme: Your World, Our World: Defining the role of Surveyors in Sustainable Resource Management.
Survey Institute of Zimbabwe President Elson Matavire told The Mirror that hold similar conferences across all cities in the country to share their experiences in surveying.
He said they also use the conferences to network with surveyors from other countries.
The conference was attended by Geo spatial engineers and surveyors from Mozambique, Kenya, Zambia, and South Africa, students from University of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo Polytechnic and Midlands State University.
“We discussed how we can best utilise land so that our cities and settlements are resilient and adaptive. As Surveyors we play a critical role in shaping our environment and ensuring the responsible use of land and resources found on it,” he said.
Last year’s conference was held in Victoria Falls.
