MASVINGO- Simbisa Brands, a fast food outlet company in Zimbabwe is warning the public of scammers who have so far duped several job seekers of their hard-earned cash. According to a public notice issued this week, Learnmore Mushangazhike, Muchemwa and other names are used by individuals purporting to be the directors of Pizza Inn or Chicken Inn to falsely promise employment, in exchange for payment.
The scammers are allegedly using cell number 071 353 9433 and other various numbers to con unsuspecting job seekers. Part of the public notice reads: “Simbisa Brands wishes to advise the public that an individual or individuals are falsely making promises of employment, in exchange for payment, purportedly on behalf of the Company.
“Simbisa Brands has received many reports of incidences where members of the public or potential job-seekers, unsolicited receive SMSs from various cell-phone numbers, including of late but not limited to 071 353 9433 from a purported Mr. Learnmore Mushangazhike or a Mr. Muchemwa, although other names could also be used.
“Both claim to be Directors of either Pizza Inn or Chicken Inn and solicit for money to secure employment in those brands. Please note, that neither of these individuals are Directors, employees or authorised representatives of Simbisa Brands or their brands.
Further, Simbisa Brands does not either directly or through third parties offer employment through SMSs or ask for money in exchange for securing such employment.
Therefore, in the interests of protecting the public, Simbisa Brands has previously reported this misrepresentation to the Zimbabwe Republic Police. We also encourage any members of the public who encounter such employment offers to also do the same.”
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed that police have received several reports of such cases, but warned the public that they should not fall for such scams. “People should know that we qualify for the jobs and do not pay for jobs,” he said.
