Silveira Priest-in-Charge gets PhD

BIKITA – Silveira Priest-in-Charge, Rev Fr Dr Vincent Muzenda graduated with a PhD from UNISA and on Tuesday a special mass was held to thank the Almighty and celebrate the achievement.
His thesis focussed on counselling the family.
Bishop Michael Bhasera graced the occasion.
Dr Muzenda’s topic was the Impact of Domestic Violence of family Cohesion: Exploring A Pastoral approach in Masvingo Diocese.
Rev. Dr Oscar Chagweda conducted the sermon.
“We give thanks to God for such a blessing and we look forward to a future full of hope. We are proud of you and we have high hopes for you. We gather here to praise God, to thank Go. The word eucharist in the original Greek literally means thanksgiving. So today we celebrate your success with a simple sincere thank you.
“The word graduation as you probably know, comes from the word step taking any step forward has to be looked at as part of a journey and it is worth reflecting briefly all the other steps that brought you to this point on your journey. God’s gift to you of life, with all its possibilities, for which we give thanks today,” said Dr Chagweda.
Dr Muzenda thanked Bishop Bhasera for giving him the green light go and study for his latest qualification in South Africa.
Dr Muzenda said that at first he planned to do a paper on the history of the Church in Zimbabwe but on the advice of Sekuru Bhasera he decided to do counselling.
“I was planned to study the Church history at Zimbabwe Open University but Sekuru Bhasersa told him to do Counselling. I had to listen his advice. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad. I owe this achievement to my Lord and Saviour.
“I also want to express my profound gratitude to Sekuru Bhasera for the following things; ordaining me a priest to serve in Masvingo Diocese, according me the opportunity to learn through ZOU, Great Zimbabwe University and then UNISA one of the biggest University with over 400 000 students. I thank you Sekuru for the financial and moral support, ‘’ said Dr Muzenda.
The Vicar General for Masvingo Diocese Fr Walter Nyatsanza described Dr Muzenda as person who listen, is hard working and who does not mind to be acknowledged in his achievements.
