Shurugwi – Shurugwi Town Council is about to complete the reconstruction of a road that bypasses the town’s CBD and reduce congestion in the town, the town clerk Solomon Siziba has said.
The 400m long bypass is along Gweru- Zvishavane road and it stretches from Mumvuri Rank.
The road which is being financed through disbursements from Zinara will cost RTGS$6,1m The Mirror was told. Construction work begun early November 2020 and is now almost complete.
“The project took a month and half to be complete and we have injected at least $6.1m. Heavy trucks have been passing through the CBD to avoid potholes along the bypass and this caused immense congestion in the town. All heavy trucks will not pass through the CBD once this bypass is complete,” said Siziba.
Other projects carried out by the council during the course of the year include the completion of Nocoshaft which provides water to some suburbs which went for years without the precious liquid. The council also constructed more communal toilets for Makusha Suburb, fenced a clinic and drilled boreholes, said Siziba. https://masvingomirror.com
