Shurugwi – The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing July Moyo has approved Shurugwi Town Council’s $ 1.1 billion budget for the 2022 financial year.

The local authority’s spokesperson Brian Matare confirmed the development to The Mirror.

“Our 2022 annual budget has been approved and this has risen from $349m in 2021,” said Matare.

The council has an allocation of $395m for devolution projects and $42m under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Projects (ERRP).

Matare said council needed a bigger allocation for roads which were damaged by floods.

He said the budget performance for last year stood at 60% and this performance is attributed to Covid 19 pandemic which stalled business activities and restricted movement by people.https://masvingomirror.com
