SHURUGWI-Shurugwi District Development Coordinator, Romeo Shangwa has installed Liberty Mhangami as Headman Mhangami under Chief Banga at a ceremony held at Mhangami Primary School recently.

Mhangami replaces his father, Gilbert Mhangami who died in April this year.

Liberty is one of the eldest sons in the family.

Shangwa told The Mirror that the installation is part of Government program to have substantive traditional leaders where there are none to enhance devolution.

” We are moving with 2030 Vision where we want development which will be spear headed by the local leadership from village heads to the chiefs,” said Shangwa.

” We are here to do the process of installing Liberty Mhangami as the one you have chosen to lead you. The Ministry will ratify the installation of Mhangami very soon,” he added.

The ceremony was graced by family members, councillors, village heads and other traditional leaders from the surrounding areas.

Clever Mhangami who is the eldest son to the late Gilbert Mhangami said that they had no problems with Liberty Mhangami being installed as Headman Mhangami.

He also added that since the death of their father there was an urgent need to have a substantial Headman for the area to preside over issues in the area since Chief Banga’s Court is far away. He also expressed satisfaction in the leadership skills of the new Headman Mhangami whom he described as a loving man and a unifier. https://masvingomirror.com
