MIDLANDS-TelOne coach Tendai Chikuni believes that the WiFi boys can snatch PSL promotion from Sheasham after they picked three points from a walkover of Dulibadzimu FC. The Beitbridge-based outfit did not show up at Ascot Stadium on Sunday.
The walkover is a welcome to the club after log leaders dropped two crucial points at army side Tongogara after playing to a goalless draw. TelOne trails by three points with two games remaining.
Sheasham now leads the table with 54 points. TelOne is on second with 51 points, and Vumbachikwe sits third on the log with 48 points after a 1-0 win over Loss Control FC at Gresham school grounds.
The Central Region Soccer League season awaits an exciting finish as Telone once spoiled the party for the Construction boys in 2018 before they got demoted in 2019. Meanwhile, mathematically, Vumbachikwe is still title contenders if they win the remaining games, and Sheasham and TelOne lose their remaining fixtures.
However, Sheasham would not want to disappoint its legion of fans by failing to gain promotion for the second time since 2018.
TelOne FC Tendai Chikuni believes his team can spoil Sheasham’s title hopes again.
“We are still in the championship matrix. We will keep fighting till the end. It is my first season. The boys are doing well,” Chikuni said.
Sheasham faces MSU at home on Sunday whilst TelOne has a trip to Paramount and Vumbachikwe play Filabusi at home.https://masvingomirror.com
