Shurugwi – Police has locked up Primrose Mukapa (38), a sex worker for allegedly hiding a notorious Shurugwi thief linked to 14 car thefts reported around the district from last year.

Mukapa was remanded in prison for obstructing the course of justice after she allegedly hid Shelton Hakulu (24) of Denga Village under Chief Madyangove in her room and under her bed for five days.

The matter came before Shurugwi Magistrate Percy Mukumba on Monday and Tafadzwa Guzete is prosecuting.

Hakulu has also been nabbed by Police after he dropped his phone in a car that he had stolen. The Mirror attended the court case.

On January 17 2022, at house number M216 Railaway Block Shurugwi, Hakulu opened a complainant’s Honda Fit registration number AFK 9366 which was not locked and tampered with the ignition system. He started the car and drove off.

The complainant heard the sound of a running engine. He rushed out and found his car being driven off. He ran after the car, shouting for help at the same time and Hakulu panicked, skidded and crashed into a ditch. He disembarked and ran away leaving his Vivo cellphone in the car. Investigations linked Hakulu to the phone.

A manhunt for the accused was launched and it was realised that Mukapa was hiding him. He was arrested while looking for transport to Zvishavane. Investigations have so far linked Hakulu to 14 car thefts.https://masvingomirror.com
