CHIKOMBA- Chivhu Magistrate Sam Chitumwa has sentenced a Cliff Security Company guard to a year in prison for stealing a company-issued rifle and committing robberies.
Simbarashe Mutenga (23) disappeared with the 303 rifle loaded with two rounds on November 16, 2022, and was arrested a few days later in Murambinda.
Prosecutor Taonga Masaire told the court that Mutenga was on night duty at a Fossil Workshop in Featherstone.
He relieved Frank Mupange. Mupange gave him the rifle with serial number A72944.
Mutenga left his post around 6: 30 pm and did not return. Mupange failed to locate him when he came for duty in the morning.
Cliff Security Company Operations Supervisor Cassius Nyamudzwa was informed of the matter and filed a Police report leading to Mutenga’s arrest in Buhera a few days later.
