Chiredzi – The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) on Monday commissioned a state-of-the-art boarding school in Save, a few kilometres from the town of Chiredzi.

Save Adventist High school becomes the only other boarding school in the vast district after Malipati High. The school will initially have capacity of 500 pupils and this year it opened its doors to Form ones.

All the Form ones are day scholars as hostels are still to be completed.

Pastor Takura Carlos Rukuni the president of Central Zimbabwe Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church said they built the school in the area because they realised that people children were travelling long distances to access boarding schools.

The church also has a lot of members in Chiredzi.

Government has since allocated seven teachers to the school.

Construction work started in 2017 with the help of the community.

For boarding, Chiredzi parents took their children to other districts, in particular St Anthony in Zaka and Mashoko in Bikita.
