Score Against Poverty donates to Neshuro Isolation center


MWENEZI- Score Against Poverty a community based organisation has donated a consignment of building materials worthy US$7000 for the refurbishment of an isolation center at Neshuro District Hospital.

The donations which included plumbing, carpentry and electrical materials were handed over to the District Development Coordinator (DDC) Rosemary Chingwe at a function held at Mwenezi Rural District Council boardroom last week.

Chingwe who is also Mwenezi District Covid-19 taskforce spokesperson thanked SAP for the donation which she said will go a long way in assisting in the fight against the spread of coronavirus in the district. She urged people to work together inorder to win the war against Covid-19.

Ï am greatfull that SAP continues to support our efforts to improve our district in different facets. This donation is critical in the fight against Covid-19 and I am urging all stakeholders to work together in the fight against the spread of this deadly virus. Working together will only see us winning” said Chingwe.

SAP District Officer Desmond Makuni told The Mirror that the issue of saving lives is the only issue which is motivating his organisation so that they continue sourcing materials which are critical in achieving better living standards.

“Since Neshuro District Hospital is a referral centre for thousands of people in Mwenezi, we thought this donadtion will go a long way in saving lives. That is why we donated material towards the construction of an isolation centre which will be of great help to those in need” said Makuni.

The construction of the superstructure is now 95% complete. Neshuro hospital has a bed capacity of 104 but nowadays they are only admitting critically ill patients due to the impact of corona virus.
The medical institution is now attend to an average number of 35-40 patients per day.
