Gutu– Sandon Academy situated 15km from Mpandawana Town along Harare road in Gutu West Constituency has attained 100% pass rate for A Level 2020 Cambridge exams for the second time in two years.
The results were confirmed by the school’s principal, Dr Thokozile Mupundu in an interview with The Mirror where she expressed satisfaction with the 32 students’ performance.
“We take pride as being one of the few schools across the country which attained a 100% pass rate in the 2020 Cambridge examinations.
“Despite the challenges posed by the Covid -19 pandemic, the students performed very well with the best science student Wesley Chimuti scoring 25 points,” she said.
Dr Mupundu praised the Sandon Academy staff for the achievement and challenged them to remain focused to maintain the high standards they have set for themselves.
“I want to thank the dedicated Sandon Academy staff for these excellent results and encourage them to maintain the high standards.
” To the 2020 Sandon Academy students, I say thank you for maintaining the high standards, you worked very hard despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Congratulations!” said Dr Mupundu.
In a telephone interview, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Lovemore Matuke who is the school patron praised Sandon Academy for its commitment to quality education.
“I hope Sandon Academy will continue to improve and strive for excellence in its general administration and the quality pass rate.
” I want to urge all learners at this school, across the country and the world over to always aim high because there is always a reward for hard work, ” said Matuke.
Last year , the school awarded its best student, Tinotenda Chidume a car at a ceremony graced by the Minister of Information Communication Technology Postal and Courier Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere together with the Minister of State for Masvingo Province, Ezra Chadzamira.
