Sable Chemicals refurbishes Kwekwe General Hospital

KWEKWE – Leading fertiliser producer, Sable Chemicals has refurbished a 40 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward at Kwekwe General Hospital as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Sable Chief Operating Officer (COO) Morgan Chinoda told The Mirror that they carried out the project to improve the health delivery system of the community they work with.

“We have handed over a 40-bed an ICU ward to Kwekwe General Hospital and the facility is now open to the public. This is part of the company’s efforts to enhance Corporate Social Responsibilities to the community,” he said. 

The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Patricia Mapanda applauded Sable Chemicals for the gesture. 

She appealed to other development partners to assist them refurbish some sections of the hospital that were gutted by fire last year.

“We are grateful to our partners in particular Sable Chemicals which has extended its helping hand to us. However, we are calling upon development partners to assist us through the construction of the doctors’ quarters which were destroyed by fire last year,” she said. 

The hospital is a referral centre for Gokwe North and South, Zhombe, Silobela and parts of Kadoma.
