Rudolf Nyandoro is appointed bishop for Gweru Diocese

Gweru- Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro is the new head of Gweru, one of the Roman Catholic’s largest dioceses in the country.

He has been transferred from Gokwe, probably the country’s smallest diocese.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Apostolic Nunciature in Zimbabwe, today and he replaces Bishop Xavier Munyongani who died in 2017. Bishop Michael Bhasera has been the acting Bishop of Gweru since then.
“His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed The Right Rev. Rudolf Nyandoro, until now Bishop of Gokwe, as the new bishop of Gweru,” said the statement.

Nyandoro was appointed bishop in 2017. He was then Chancellor of the Diocese of Masvingo and the Rector at Bondolfi Teachers’ College. He was born in Gutu in Masvingo.
