RTGS$5 000 fine for growing mbanje

Mberengwa – Two brothers Mandla Moyo(42) and Method Moyo(38) of Mangaba Village, Chief Bangwe, Mberengwa have been fined RTGS$5 000 each or five months in jail for growing mbanje.

They were arrested by the Police after being found with eight plants of mbanje with an average height of 2,3m growing in their garden.

They appeared before Archie Wochionga on February 6, 2021 and faced unlawful cultivation of dangerous drugs charges.

On February 4, 2021 at around 6pm Police officers at Keyara Business Centre, Mberengwa received information that the two were cultivating dangerous drugs at Mangaba Village. The cops proceeded to the place and after identifying themselves were led to the garden where they found eight plants with an average height of 2,3m. The accused had no lawful right to cultivate dagga without a license.
