Roman Catholic Church to release 24 new songs

HARARE – The Roman catholic Church in Zimbabwe will be releasing 24 new songs this year, this emerged at the church’s 62nd Musical Course held at St Paul’s Musami Mission last week.
Some 3 000 singers attended the course while 50 composers of new songs were also present at the programme which ran for six days from August 11 to 16 .
John Dzingai, a composer told The Mirror that the event is annual and it dates back to 1962. It is hosted from one diocese to another.
The Guest of honour was Fr Alex Skhohliso Ndlovu from Bulawayo Diocese who expressed satisfaction at the success of the event. He however, said that there was need for gender balance as there were much more men than women.
National Coordinator Mgcini Moyo told The Mirror that the event is like a waterhole where everyone gets water since it is where hyms come from.
Fr Ndlovu encouraged people to be unified and to make sure of inclusion in every Diocese .
“What we saw here is a good job and I hope we will spread the love throughout .We should also have a gender balance and I think we will say we have done a very good job,” he said.
Some new songs include Kukumbira Nyasha by Dr Claybough Mapfumo,Langabieliphilayo by Bishop Ndlovu, Tenzi Ndinokutendai by Tawanda Mapuranga and Mwari Anokuda by Ignatius Chabata among many others.
