Robbers fire pistol, leave passengers US$8 520 poorer

MASVINGO – Police is looking for three men who fired a pistol in a bus travelling from Mutare to Beitbridge and went away with US$8 520 plus ZAR 140,160.
The incident occurred around 2 am on Wednesday last week.
Masvingo Police Assistant Provincial Spokesperson, Lorraine Ndlovu confirmed the case to The Mirror.
Ndlovu said the T and B Smart Express Bus driven by Peter Dirorimwe (56) traveling from Mutare to South Africa picked three men at Birchenough Brigde around 7pm.
On Wednesday at the 126 kilometre peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway one of the three fired a pistol into the bus roof thereby damaging cameras on the bus. He slapped the driver and kicked him before he took ZAR 6 000 from the driver’s pockets
The three robbers searched all the passengers and they took away a total money of ZAR14 0160 US$8 520 and other valuables. After the robbery they disembarked the bus and vanished.
A report was made at Mwenezi Police.
