Reverend Pandasvika re-elected RCZ moderator

MASVINGO-Reverend Isaac Pandasvika has been re-elected the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) moderator for a second consecutive four-year term at elections held at the church 32nd Synod meeting at Chibi High School last week.

Rev Pandasvika was first elected moderator in 2018.

Reverend Silas Magwati replaces Rev Dr Christopher Munikwa as vice moderator, Rev Tafadzwa Masimba was also re-elected general secretary for a second term. Reverend Charles Juro was elected Actuary. Reverend Lovemore Mashamba was elected vice general secretary, Doctor Rugare was elected synod secretary with lawyer Knowledge Mabvuure elected vice synod secretary. Pikisai Mhizha will serve as the Treasurer and Hungwe will deputise him.

This year’s Synod was held under the theme; Church On the Move, Preaching the Gospel in Season and Off Season drawn from 2 Timothy 4:2.

The moderature has no women is its ranks and is known as the moderamen, said Rev Masimba. The previous moderature had Ruth Hwaire who served as Synod vice secretary. 

“Synod is more like a supreme court, it is a policy making board in the church and we meet after every 2 years to elect new executive that will be looking at the Synod resolutions and other operational activities,” said Rev Masimba. 

Over 300 congregants thronged Chibi high school for the event and some came from as far as South Africa and Botswana. 

Synod is held after two years with the elective congress after four years. The last Synod was held in 2018.
