Manicaland – The late prominent United Methodist pastor, Rev Dr. Isaac Mapipi Mawokomatanda (80) who died in the United States on February 27 2021 will now be buried at Old Mutare Mission in Zimbabwe on Friday April 9, 2021, a family spokesperson has announced.
The late reverend’s son, Sam Mawokomatanda confirmed the burial details to The Mirror yesterday.
The body will arrive in Harare from Atlanta, Georgia on April 8 after leaving the USA on April 7. It will stay overnight at Nyaradzo Funeral Home and ferried very early on Friday to Mutare for the funeral service which will start at 9am.
Burial will be at 11am and the service will be presided over by Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa of the United Methodist Church, said Sam who will be arriving in Harare early next week ahead of the body.
It was the late Mawokomatanda’s wish to be buried at Old Mutare Mission, the place where he was born.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Chipo Mawokomatanda (nee Matambo) and six children namely, Samuel, Shongedzai, Emilia, Rutendo, Shandirai, and Remeredzai.
Isaac’s life is encompassed by the verse John 15:12-13 – “So this is my command: Love each other deeply, as much as I have loved you. For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends.”
Isaac was that person that would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it and had a great impact on individuals he encountered. https://masvingomirror.com
