MASVINGO – Rehoboth Lighthouse Full Gospel Church International has donated food hampers and clothes to 16 people living with disabilities (PWDs).
The hampers comprising 2 litres cooking oil, 2 kg rice, 2kg sugar, 1kg salt and a bathing soap and a washing soap were handed over at the church in Rujeko on Sunday.
Masvingo Senator, Maggie Chakabuda and National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped (NASCOH) Masvingo Province representative, Prazin Jakata attended the ceremony.
Jakata selected beneficiaries from Chivi and Copota School of the Blind.
Church Bishop, Dr Onismo Goronga said they are happy extending their hand to the disadvantaged of society. He said they are also initiating projects for parents of children with disabilities.
“We have a department that is there to help the disabled, widows, orphans and the disadvantaged in communities. We give groceries and clothes to our colleagues at Copota and all seven districts across the province every December. We are doing it for God. We give goods to our church leaders in the districts and they will donate them to PWDs and the disadvantaged in their communities,” he said.
Jakata applauded the church for donating to PWDs and the disadvantaged. He said there are over 5 000 PWDs in the province.
“I am very grateful to the Rehoboth Lighthouse Full Gospel Church and the Goronga family for the donations. We received Christmas food hampers and clothes. Every year the church gives us Christmas gifts for our families. God will bless them because they are important to us,” he said.
