RCU Acting VC is no more

MASVINGO – The Reformed Church University (RCU) Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Marriotte Jacob Ngwaru has died.
He was 65.
RCU Information and Publicity Officer, Rumbidzai Manyame confirmed the death to The Mirror.
“RCU, Ngwaru family and the whole nation has been robbed of a pillar. He will be remembered as a visionary and progressive leader who transformed the RCU in the shortest space of time he was with the University,” said Manyame.


She said Ngwaru died at home in Rodhene at around 8.30pm on Tuesday.
Prof Ngwaru joined RCU in 2019 from Aga Khan University of Pakistan’s East Africa branch in Tanzania where he was Head of Research.
Prof Ngwaru is survived by his wife, Dr Catherine Ngwaru, four children namely Dr Tafara Ngwaru, Shuvai, Tendekai and Marriotte Jnr and three grandchildren.


He will be buried tomorrow at his Endame farm along Harare – Masvingo highway near Chaka.
Mourners are gathered at house number 9577 Cary Street, Rhodhene, Masvingo.
