GOKWE- Heavy rains that pounded Zimbabwe’s Midlands district of Gokwe on Friday and Saturday left a trail of destruction, Gokwe North District Development Coordinator who is also the district’s Civil Protection Unit chairperson, Martin Musakanda, has said.
He said in an interview with The Mirror that a total of eight houses were destroyed while one teacher’s house had its roof blown away at Chaminuka Primary School.
The Nembudziya -Tshoda road was also intensively damaged by the heavy rains.
“Six houses were destroyed in Ward 21 while two were destroyed in Ward 3,” he said.
He said two houses belonging to Aaron Ndhlovu in Ward 3 were totally inhabitable, calling upon well-wishers to stretch their helping hands.
He said that they are now mobilising resources to help affected families.
“We are appealing to well-wishers to assist with resources to assist affected families,” he said.
