GUTU – Long serving former St Anthony High School literature teacher and Rafamoyo Secondary School head John Marimbe is no more.
Marimbe (55), a devout Catholic succumbed to prostate cancer at Gutu Mission Hospital on Tuesday and he is expected to be buried at Mutero Village under Chief Nyamandi in Gutu today.
Marimbe’s young brother Tawanda confirmed the death to The Mirror.
“My brother succumbed to prostate cancer yesterday at Gutu Mission Hospital. He will be buried tomorrow at Mutero Village under Chief Nyamandi, Gutu. He was a pillar of strength for the family,” said Tawanda in an interview with The Mirror.
Marimbe taught Literature in English at St Anthony High School in Zaka for 27 years from 1990 to 2017 when he briefly joined Chinorumba High in the same district until September 2018.
He was also a part time Communication Skills lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) between 2016 and 2017.
He joined Rafamoyo in 2018 and was appointed substantive head, a position he held until his death.
Marimbe was born in Gutu on August 25, 1965, and attended Mutero Central Primary School and Chikwingwizha Seminary for his O Level studies. He then enrolled for a Diploma in Education at Gweru Teachers’ College in 1987.
He is survived by his wife Euphrasia and two children Fortunate and Tafadzwa.
