Queens of Chivhu chess player (8) off to Italy

CHIVHU – Queens of Chivhu Chess club member, Munenyasha Musiyiwa (8) who is a Grade 3 pupil at Goodhope Junior School, is competing at the Fide World Chess Championship in Italy from November 14-27, this year.
Club founder Godknows Dembure confirmed the development to The Mirror.
Dembure said Munenyasha who is the reigning National Association of Primary School (NAPH) U8 chess champion was selected after a superb performance at the national competitions held early this year.
“Our player was nominated to compete at a Chess tournament set to be held in Italy in November this year. As a club, we are excited by her nomination and we are looking forward to what the future holds.
“It is the club’s purpose to see young girls excelling in Chess and we are proud of that. We hope that we will find enough resources for the kid to perform in Italy,” said Dembure.
Goodhope Junior School head Shephered Nyani said the school is proud and supportive of Munenyasha’s success. “As a school, we are so proud of our student who has proved her wit in the game of chess. We hope it will motivate others to do their best in their respective sports,” said Nyani.
