Punish Chikozho Bus Service for overloading – MP Zvobgo (Jnr)

MASVINGO – Masvingo Central MP Edison Zvobgo (Jnr) has called on Government to mete out appropriate punishment on Chikozho Bus service for overloading passengers resulting in an accident that saw the loss of seven lives.
He said this when he visited Chikozho Bus accident victims at Masvingo Provincial Hospital on Sunday.
He said the accident could have been avoided had the bus crew stuck to regulations. There were 105 passengers in the bus instead of the stipulated 75.
He appealed to the public to assist the victims in hospital and those who lost relatives as there are many costs that they cannot absorb on their own.
“Why would a bus meant for 75 passengers have 105 people. It is unacceptable and these people should be given the punishment they deserve. You cannot have nine deaths in an accident that could otherwise have been avoided and life goes on as usual.
“Government must investigate and take appropriate action against the bus company for breaching road regulations,” said Zvobgo.
