Prominent Zvish businessman’s cattle recovered, suspects get $5 000 bail

ZVISHAVANE – One of the eight cattle stolen from prominent Zvishavane businessman Tafara Ngwenya popularly known as Tees was recovered.

Suspects in the case paid $5 000 bail each before Zvishavane Magistrate Archie Wochiunga.

Joseph Ncube, Luckson Ndlovu and Courageous Chemhuru of Maketo village under Chief Mapanzure in Zvishavane appeared in court on Friday facing stock theft charges.

On December 12, 2020 the accused persons teamed up and allegedly proceeded to Gijima Farm where they drove away three cows and five heifers and drove them to Maketo Village. The matter came to light on January 6, 2021 when a stolen steer was recovered from Chibaro grazing lands being herded by Ndlovu and Chemhuru who then implicated Ncube as the owner of the beast.

The total value of the stolen stock is $425 000 and only $188 890 was recovered.
