PRAZ launches Community Information Centre in Masvingo

MASVINGO – The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) has launched the ZIMPOST Community Information Centre (CIC) in Masvingo.

The Information Centre was launched at Zimbabwe Postal Services (ZIMPOST) offices Chikato in Mucheke on Friday last week by the Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Jefter Sakupwanya represented by the Director Economic Affairs, Clever Chingwara. 

The purpose of the Information Center is to facilitate sustainable and inclusive development by way of increasing the number of eligible suppliers registered to participate in the public procurement ecosystem. 

Chingwara said procurement is central to the achievement of the country’s development objectives in line with the second Republic’s mantra of inclusivity.

He commended PRAZ for organising and holding the first ever procurement conference that seeks to enhance the efficiency and integrity of public procurement even when undertaken under the circumstances of an emergency.

“I would like to welcome the PRAZ in partnership with ZIMPOST to Masvingo Province.  PRAZ is central to the achievement of our development objectives as it plays the vital role of regulating procurement in the entire public sector.

“This gesture will create opportunity for all to access public procurement services easily. Suppliers will have time to interact and learn,” said Chingwara.

PRAZ Finance and Administration Director Nora Tome promised that PRAZ will uphold professionalism, ethics and transparency.

“We officially launch the Public Procurement Service Centre in Masvingo which will enable the increase of registered bidders in Masvingo to make public procurement programme easy. 

“PRAZ is coming with more initiatives to open up public procurement to everyone. We call upon everyone to take part in procurement processes and register with PRAZ 17 CICs in Masvingo which are accessible through out partner ZIMPOST,” said Tome. 

She also said that as they launch Chikato other CICs in the Province are being activated. 

The Provincial Regional Manager for PRAZ, Hardlife Mudzikisi also emphasised on the importance of the CICs.

He said Masvingo people can access PRAZ and internet services in various CICs dotted across the province and the country at large.

Members of the Public can also access money transfer services, insurance services, vehicle licensing, as well as parcel postings at ZIMPOST 

Also present at the event was PRAZ Information Communication Technology (ICT) director Freddy Ndlovu, Masvingo Urban Ward 3 and Ward 4 councillors Rocky Kamuzonda and Aleck Tabe respectively, PRAZ Services Manager David Charirwe.
