MASVINGO – Chosen Generation (CG) has secured 10 hectares of land in Mashava to construct a vocational training center for People with Disabilities (PWDs).The land was received from Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira.

CG’s thrust is the upliftment of lives for PLWDs by equipping them with industrial skills. CG founder and director, Vimbai Chase told The Mirror in an interview that they want the centre to accommodate 3 000 PWDs and is appealing to well-wishers, donors and the business community to chip in with resources for the project. “We secured 10 hectares of land in Mashava and we want to construct our Beacon of Hope, a centre where PWDs are taught vocational skills as sewing, painting, and animal husbandry. “The centre will be like Danhiko Industrial Training College. Danhiko is now overwhelmed and cannot sustain the constituency.

PWDs should be self-sufficient and not depend on hand-outs. We are sure that with these skills they will be able to provide for themselves,” she said.Chase added that the centre will also be home to PLWDs who are orphans. Tatenda Churu, who is a PWD applauded the initiative as it will allow them to be self sufficient and compete with other people in society.
