ZVISHAVANE-Reigning 2022 Premier Netball League champions Platinum Queens have started their training ahead of their title defence in 2023. They began training on 4 January 2023 with coach Simbarashe Mlambo confirming to Mirror Sport that three players have since left the club and no new signings have been recorded as yet to the club.
The trio which left the club are Linet Tamira,Tanaka Makusha and Hamu Govere who are said to be replaced by more younger players as they seek to replicate their male counterparts who have since won the Premier Soccer League title four consecutive times. Mlambo said so far the all is well and hope to bring in younger players to beef up the squad.
“Three players have since left the club to join other clubs but all is well so far and we hope to bring in more young players so that we put them in shape and jell with other seasoned players,” he said.
The Zvishavane based side finished the season with an unbeaten record. It was their second consecutive time to win the league title following their previous success in 2021. Platinum Queens played 36 games and bagged 72 points. Mlambo attributed their success to resilience, right attitude throughout the season and is hoping to continue the same feat in the upcoming season.
