CHIVI – Masvingo Acting Provincial Education Director (PED), Shylatte Mhike has commissioned an RTGS$1, 021m piped water system at Mandiva Primary School in Chivi under headman Chipindu.
The project was financed by Fountain of Hope Foundation founder and director Gedion Chishamba. Chishamba is a former Mandiva pupil.
Jeniffer Chishamba who spoke on behalf of her husband said Fountain of Hope was there to assist children with conducive learning environments.
Mhike hailed the Foundation for providing clean and piped water to the school.
“Water is a base for development so as the Ministry of Education we look forward to further development of this school. Thank you Fountain of Hope for giving back to the community especially remembering your roots,
“Hygiene will be maintained especially during this COVID-19 era because without water there is no life. I challenge the pupils to follow the example set by Fountain of Hope,” said Mhike.
The project saw 18 solar panels, two submissive pumps and a 10 000 litre-JOJO tank being supplied.
The project came courtesy of the school head, Joubert Maramba’s tireless efforts to look for funders and donors to the school.
Present at the commissioning ceremony were Chief Nemauzhe, Chivi Central MP Ephraim Gwanongodza, Chivi DDC Innocent Matingwina Chivi District Schools’ Inspector, Iscaac Gwamuri Chivi council chairman, Godfrey Mukungunugwa, AFC Bank Marketing Officer, Albert Rutsvara and school heads from the surrounding area.
