MASVINGO – Failed currencies torment Zimbabwe women entrepreneurs hence the lack of confidence in ZiG, Women Entrepreneurship Day Organisation (WEDO), Masvingo Ambassador, Benonia Machavuda has said.
Machavuda said this at a recent ZNCC organised Monetary Policy Statement and Structured Currency review breakfast meeting where Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor, Dr John Mushayavanhu was the guest speaker.
Machavuda told Dr Mushayavanhu that business was afraid of past experiences and urged the Governor to work hard on building the nation’s confidence in the new currency.
“Our concern as entrepreneurs in Masvingo is the lack of trust and the lack of confidence in the new currency.
“Our question to you is, are you going to give us hope and be ready to shift gears in terms of your approach to the monetary policy? We expect the policy to address these issues,” said Machavuda who is also the director of Eben Hardware and was a panellist at the breakfast meeting.
Machavuda said business yearns for economic stability, for controlled inflation and interest rate management.
