NSSA appoints Manase substantive general manager

MASVINGO -The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) has appointed Arthur Johnson Manase as substantive general manager with effect from January 1, 2021.

NSSA board chairman, Cliford Matorera confirmed the appointment in a Press release dated January 4, 2021.

Prior to his appointment as substantive general manager Manase had been acting in that position since December 2019.

Matorera said Manase was appointed general manager after demonstrating incisive leadership which saw NSSA scoop more than 10 local and international awards and certification from various organisations spanning across service delivery, corporate social responsibility and business leadership among others.

Manase also scooped three awards at the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe, Corporate Directors’ Excellence Honours 2020.

“To testify the effectiveness of his leadership and the transformation brought about by it, NSSA received more than 10 prestigious local and international awards and certification from various organisations, spanning across service delivery, corporate social responsibility and business leadership, among others.

“Arthur led the way by scooping three awards at the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe, Corporate Directors’ Excellence Honours 2020.

These were:

• Winner. Innovative/Turnaround Strategist Corporate Director of the Year – Public Enterprises/Parastatal
• 1st Runner Up: Social Value 8 Sustainability – Impact
Corporate Director of the Year
• 1st Runner Up: Equality, Diversity 8 Inclusion – Corporate Director of the Year

Another feather to his cap was the successful rebranding of NSSA that culminated in the unveiling of a new corporate identity on 1 December 2020,” said Matorera.

Manase is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from UZ in 1987, Masters of Laws at Cambridge University (1990).

He served as executive dean at UZ from January 2001 to November 2003 before joining Air Zimbabwe where he served as legal counsel in the secretarial and corporate affairs department. Manase then joined the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in October 2004 as the deputy division chief in the Financial Intelligence Unit and as a principal legal advisor. In February 2011 Manase was promoted to the position of Executive Director in charge of Legal Services and Corporate Affairs a position he held until December 2019 when he joined NSSA as the acting CEO. https://masvingomirror.com
