New Chief Nyamandi appointed

MASVINGO – Togara Masunda has been appointed as the new substantive Chief Nyamandi, Gutu District Development Coordinator (DDC) Chiedza Tafirei has confirmed.
Siyano Machaya who became notorious for dabbling in politics and refused opposition members Government welfare is finally gone. The new Chief Nyamandi is understood to be over 100 years old.
Tafirei said Masunda was appointed in March and his installation date will be announced after holding consultations with the Nyamandi chieftainship family.
“Togara Masunda was appointed Chief Nyamandi in March this year. He will be installed after we hold consultations with the family,” she said.
Provincial Chiefs Assembly Chairperson Chief Chitanga of Mwenezi born Feleni Chauke also confirmed the appointment to The Mirror. Nyamandi is the largest chieftainship in Gutu District by area spanning three wards.
Machaya was acting chief since 2017 when his father and last substantive chief Kokerai Machaya died. Acting chiefs are allowed a maximum of two years.
