CHIREDZI – A school head not named and a grandmother framed a Mwenezi teacher for raping a 14-year-old grade 7 pupil allegedly because he was more educated than the head and was therefore not wanted in the school.
Sheunesu Bonda (35), a teacher at Maranda Primary was acquitted by Chiredzi regional magistrate, Judith Zuyu on Wednesday.
The girl insisted in court that she was not raped by Bonda and she said she even told the same story to Police at Mwenezi but was forced to write an affidavit to the effect that she was raped.
The girl insisted in court that she was influenced by her grandmother to implicate Bonda.
The girl said sometime in April she bunked school with friends and went to Neshuro Growth Point where she decided to secure work at a shop.
She spent two days there and returned home where she was quizzed by her grandmother over the issue .
The grandmother asked who her boyfriend was and she told her but she insisted on her to name Bonda. The grandmother and the head allegedly both pressured her to implicate Bonda.
The girl argued that her grandmother was influenced by the head who did not like Bonda.
“My grandmother was influenced by the headmaster at Maranda primary school because the head does not like Bonda because he is educated more than the headmaster,” said the girl in court.
Ronald Kwangware prosecuted.
Bonda denied the allegations.
