MWENEZI – A 58-year-old man’s body was found dumped in the middle of Masvingo – Beitbridge Highway near Chitanga Primary School in Mwenezi this morning in a case of suspected murder.

Sources said Wisani Baloyi (58) attended a funeral in the area yesterday and was active during the burial organizing those who were building and gathering stones for the grave. He also played a pivotal role on behalf of his church that was also present at the funeral.

His death barely 12 hours later left the whole community shocked.

Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said foul play is suspected.

A source suspected that Baloyi who had deep wounds in his neck including a ruptured Adam’s apple was murdered first and the suspects then dumped his body in the road to disguise the death as caused by a road accident.

However, somebody figured out the ploy and put stones in the road on either side of the road so that vehicles would not run over the body. The body was then found this morning intact and removed from the road.

Police is investigating the case.

Efforts to get a comment from Baloyi’s relatives were fruitles.
