MVUMA-Police in Mvuma have arrested Nyarai Swatch (40) of Mushayavhudzi suburb who is suspected of killing twin boys she gave birth to at her residence yesterday morning.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Mirror. He said the boys were found dumped in a plastic bin outside the house Swatch shares with other tenants.
Mahoko went on to say they are waiting on a postmortem report to establish how Swatch allegedly killed the twins.
Swatch is admitted at Mvuma District Hospital under Police guard since yesterday and it is suspected that she gave birth yesterday morning alone in her room and allegedly killed the twins before dumping them in a plastic bin outside the house.
Her fellow tenants saw the dumped bodies and a passerby alerted Police leading to the arrest of Swatch.
Mahoko urged couples to have planned pregnancies.
“It is critical that people should have planned pregnancies which usher babies that they are happy with and take care of them.
“Children are gifts from God and parents should feel happy to look after them. Ending a life is a serious offence and sin,” said Mahoko.
