MVUMA – Cosmas Kangirai (26) from Fairfields near Mvuma lost his Toyota Runx on Monday last week and US$360 cash to three men and two women that he had given a lift.

Cosmas Kangirai from Fairfields in Mvuma was asked for a lift by three man and two women from Chaka to Chivhu.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident and told The Mirror that Kangirai was stopped at the 170km peg along Harare-Masvingo by his passengers who said that they had reached their destination.

“One of the suspects grabbed Kangirai by the neck and demanded cash from him while others were searching him.

“They tied his hands and legs and took away US$360 before driving him to Matende Compound at Fairfields where they dumped him before driving off with the Runx, registration ADQ 3872,” said Mahoko.

Kangirai managed to free himself and made a report at Mvuma Police Station. The suspects are still at large.

“As ZRP Midlands we are appealing for any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the property”, he said.

He advised motorists and other road users to desist from the habit of offering transport to strangers as they risk being robbed.https://masvingomirror.com
