MVUMA – Mvuma FC has bounced back into the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Central Region Division 2 League after eight years owing to financial constraints.

Club spokesperson Leenias Matongo confirmed the development to Mirror Sport. He also said that the club is identifying raw talent in Chirumhanzu district in an effort to curb drug abuse among youth.

“We are happy because we have managed to guide our community team to play in a professional league. We approached ZIFA after identifying raw talent amongst our youth. Our youth recruitment drive began on Sunday at Mushayavhudzi Stadium and we are mostly targeting youth aged between 18 – 26 years.

“It is our hope that football activities will occupy youth and desist them from drug abuse; however we are also appealing to all Mvuma residents and the business community to come on board and assist us with affiliation fees,” said Matongo.

Matongo said ZIFA approved the club’s comeback into the Division 2 League at a meeting held in Gweru on February 18 this year.

Mvuma FC dropped out of the same league in 2015 after failing to raise affiliation fees and has been playing in the social leagues since then.
