MVUMA – Chirumanzu RDC has elected Tremendous Musara, the councillor for Ward 13 as Mvuma’s first town board chairman.

The elections took place on Friday last week.

Mvuma was accorded town status in July this year by the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works. The small gold mining center got a boost recently when Government gave a nod for the establishment of a US$1 billion Chineses Tsingshan Holdings iron ore mine project that is a stone throw away from the town.

The election was held during a special full council meeting chaired by Chirumhanzu Assistant District Development Coordinator, Chalton Murove.

Musara said he was going to focus on developing the new town and appealed for fellow councillors’ full support.

“I appeal to my fellow councillors to stop bickering in the chambers and focus on service delivery. I am happy to become Mvuma’s first town board chair and will work together with my fellow councillors regardless of political affiliation”, he said.

Murove urged councillors to respect their offices and shun corruption.

“I urge the newly elected town board chair to shun corruption.

“There is need to improve service delivery including garbage collection and infrastructure development”, said Murove.

The local authority has 25 voted councillors and 2 co-opted during the ceremony namely Tendai Mandiopera representing the business community and Decktive Kamanga of the Press Battalion Church representing religious organizations. https://masvingomirror.com
