MASVINGO – Raymond Muzenda, the man who lost Ndarama High School Development Association (SDA) elections during an AGM held last month is back and last Thursday he represented the school at a two-day workshop at Westwood Lodge in Chiredzi.
The workshop comes with a lot of allowances.
Many people who attended the SDA induction workshop wondered what is in it for him that keeps him wanting to lead the school against the wishes of the parents.
Muzenda has been chairman for Ndarama High for the last 18 years and almost none of his contemporaries at the workshop had served for four years. The majority served for between one and three years.
Muzenda had not held elections in the last four years and when the election finally came and he was defeated and he contested its constitutionality and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education decided not to defend and that is how he walked back into the driving seat without a mandate from anyone except the court.
Actually the Ministry asked Ndarama High to withdraw its papers contesting the case.
Ironically Muzenda told The Mirror that he accepted the election results and was leaving the executive gracefully.
When asked for a comment by The Mirror, Muzenda said he did not attend the workshop and he is not back at the school.
The order that Muzenda sought from the court and was granted by Masvingo Magistrate Ritaiswe Silaigwana.
The new executive office comprised of Enesia Chakacheke, Peter Chigaba, Robson Pahuwa, Anacoleta Mwenezeka and Wellington Muchemwa.
The application which has seen Muzenda bouncing back at Ndarama was filed by his deputy chairman Peter Mutisi.
The ruling bars school head Oddy Matongo, Ndarama High School Development Committee (SDC) and the acting Provincial Education Director (PED) Shylatte Mhike from interfering with the School Development Association.
“The first respondent (school head Oddy Matongo), second respondent (Ndarama Government High School Development Committee) and fourth respondent (Provincial Education Director) are hereby interdicted from interfering with the activities of the respondent (Ndarama Government High School Association) as it was constituted before the meeting of April 9, 2022,” reads part of Silaigwana’s judgment.
