Mutsvangwa to grace day of rural women

CHIREDZI – Minister of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Monica Mutsvangwa is on Saturday expected to grace commemorations of the International day of rural women in Chiredzi. The commemorations are set for Muteyo Value Addition Cooperative Centre in Ward 4, Chiredzi East.
Ministry’s District Development Officer (DDO) for Chiredzi, Ignatius Chorira confirmed the development to The Mirror.
This year’s commemorations are running under the theme; Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All.
“Masvingo Province is hosting the International day of rural women celebrations this year. Minister Mutsvangwa will be the Guest of honour at the occasion,” said Chorira.
The International Day of rural women’s is celebrated every year on October 15.
“The celebrations highlight the essential role that rural women and girls play in the world food system. It is an opportunity to celebrate economic, political and social achievements of women,” said Chorira.
Women will be given a platform to showcase their exhibitions. Chiredzi last hosted the national commemorations in 2011.
