MUTARE – The construction of the National Pharmaceutical Company (NatPharm) warehouse which started mid last year in Mutare is 60% complete.
Natpham is a commercial company under the Ministry of Health and Childcare for procurement, storage and distribution of health commodities to the public sector in Zimbabwe. The construction of the warehouse was embarked upon to relieve pressure on the Harare warehouse.
The Minister of State for Manicaland, Nokuthula Matsikenyere said that the warehouse will be the biggest medicine storage facility for the two eastern provinces of Manicaland and Masvingo.
“The Second Republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa has seen the construction of a big warehouse of paramount importance to the whole country as it will be the biggest storage facility for Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces. This giant facility is expected to have been complete by May this year and it will eradicate challenges associated with medicine storage,” said Minister Matsikenyere.
Masimba contractor resident engineer Oliver Muzviziyi said progress on the work was recently stalled by the rains but the company still expects to finish the job by May this year.
“Progress has been delayed by heavy rains but we are 60% percent with the roof already in place. We have been receiving rains almost on a daily basis,” said Muzviziyi.
