MUTARE – Mutare City Council has started looking for a new Town Clerk following the death of Joshua Maligwa early this year.
Maligwa succumbed to Covid-19 on January 6, 2021.
Maligwa took over from Obert Muzawazi who was fired by then minister of Local Government Saviour Kasukuwere during the peak of Zanu PF factional fights pitting late President Robert Mugabe camp and the then Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa faction.
Doctor Antony Mutara who is the Health Director for Mutare City Council has been the acting Town Clerk.
The local authority has since placed an advert in The Sunday Mail inviting interested and qualified individuals to apply for the top post.
In an interview with Chipinge Times, Mutare Mayor, councillor Blessing Tandi said the local authority cannot continue with an acting Town Clerk.
Tandi said the local authority is looking for someone with local governance experience and who is willing to take the local authority to greater heights.
