ZAKA – The Mushayamunda tournament is back after a two-year COVID-19 induced hiatus and kicks off tomorrow (Friday) with 31 schools drawn from Bikita, Zaka and Chiredzi competing in netball, volleyball and soccer.
The finals are slated for July 22, 2022 at Tapudzai Primary School in Zaka.
Tournament coordinator Joseph Vhengere confirmed the development to The Mirror.
“Zonal competitions are beginning tomorrow and we have 12 schools from Bikita, 10 from Chiredzi and nine from Zaka that will tussle it out for the trophies.

“Each school will get a token of appreciation for participating and the trophy will be won by the overall winner,” said Vhengere.
The Mushayamunda tourney began in 2006 and it is sponsored by the Mushayamunda Family Trust from Mashoko, Bikita. The family trust is made up of four brothers who are all based in Ohio in the USA. The trust works closely with the Church of Christ. The Patron Dereck Mushayamunda will represent the trust at the tournament. The Trust has done a lot of philanthropic work in and around Bikita.
“We are expecting guests from the USA, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials and local leaders in Zaka to grace the tourney’s final matches,” added Vhengere.https://masvingomirror.com
